Here is a fun thing to do.
Wash out your egg shells, dry them and save them in a container.
On wood, draw a picture... like a still life of fruits, scenery, or modern art.
Divide the Egg shells up into several piles.... crumble them up into small pieces and put into bowls and use food coloring to dye them.... don't even try to make them evenly colored.. let there be many shades of each color. Put them in 200 degree oven for about 5 minutes on baking pans.... then let them sit a couple days to dry.
Using good old Elmer's Glue.... put some glue on the area you want to work on, place some of the egg shells where you want them.... mosaic tiles art with egg shells! After done and all dried for a couple of days....use a paint brush dipped into food coloring or paint to outline each different colored area to enhance it....
*** I have also taken colored egg shells and made very small particles (kind of like glitter) and applied just as you would glitter..... and then outlining with a paint brush as directed above.
Source(s): I still have several of these pieces of art left... they are at least 20 - 45 years old....and still look great. - gr8rt1Lv 51 decade ago
for sculpture class I made a block of jello about the size of a 5x7x10" block. I was going for kinetic, but it wiggled out of control and fell on the floor in the ceramics lab and I had to bs my presentation
for that same class I used clear polyester resin to suspend bacon lettuce and tomato between transparent slices of bread
since teaching art, I have used fruits and veggies to print with, i knew one teacher who had here students glue pasta, dried beans, cereal etc. on lots of things, and there are several recipes for craft clay made from salt, cornstarch, or flour, and paper mache paste made from flour and water
