it depends on what you from them, with Brazilian Jiu jitsu you are taught alot of ground work which is of course good if you have to fight on the ground.

muay thai is very good for striking and would really help for self-defense. MMA sort combines alll of them and is good for fighting.

BOTH. it's crucial to be able to fight where ever the fight may go if your a muay thai guy that is great if the fight stays standing, but say your fighting a wrestler who will take you down, in muay thai there isn't any training from your back or any ground fighting. same with BJJ if your a grappler and your fighting a muay thai guy with good takedown defense he's going to force you into striking with him, because you won't be able to take him down to use your Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ). so it's very important to combine training in both of these martial arts to have an effective fighting style.

It depends what your strength is. If you wrestled or are very good on the ground take the muay thai, and if you suck on the ground (like I did before I started taking BJJ) and your stand up is average or better, BJJ is your ticket. In order to be more well rounded, you have to advance your weakest area. I took Shotokan for 5 plus years, but like I said I was a pushover if taken to the dirt. Now I don't worry about that, I actually encourage it and it's the strongest part of my game. I do think both are excellent, but I would focus on one at a time. I hope this helped.

Muay thai is better for striking.

Brazilian jiu jitsu is better for grappling.

MMA is better for a mix of both striking and grappling.

    good luck!

Muay Thai all the way, especially for fitness. But its always handy to know how to fight on the ground as nearly 90% of fights end up on the ground

MMA combines the other two you realise. So an MMA guys who fights the other two types can generally beat them since he can switch to a style the other guy has not done.

As to fitness, atmosphere, conditiojing and fun there is no difference. Thwe same guys takes the classes anyway.

Whats better a apple an orange. The best style depends on the student. How long and hard he trains. I think Karate is the best art. At the advance levels (25 plus) years it looks more like jujjitsu then a stand up art because a high ranking master could pick a punch coming at him out of the and throw the attacker.

You need to provide for information about what your goals are for training. They are different forms and will offer different advantages and limitations.
