Dual Core Question?
I purchased a custom built pc. When I bought it, I was told that it was a Core 2 Dual 2 x 2.67 MHZ.
When I go into the hardware manager it shows the two 2.67 MHZ processors, but it lists them as Pentium Ds.
I opened the machine and the chip has no markings on it. Is their a way to verify I have the right chip?

A couple of different ways
1) verify in bios -- usually hold down delete as system boots up (sometimes f10)
2) right click on my computer and go to properties--go to hardware tab--go to device manager--hit the plus sign next to processor (instructions for windows xp)
3) from the start menu go to run and type dxdiag--will tell you the processor in the information told on the first screen
if you have not gone into a bios before I suggest you try #2 or #3 first
good luck

Depending on your version of your OS you can view what the machine is using for a processor by accessing the system option under the control panel. It will be under the General tab, which is the default tab when the system option is opened.
Additionally accessing the Task Manager(ctrl + alt + delete) and selecting the Performance tab will show the the current status of your processor(s).
Otherwise I don't have a clue as to identifying exactly what chip you are using.

in vista its hard to choose the right keyword but try and find the processor speed as the pentium d are 3.4ghz or something
click the desk top >Fn1 key type in processor speed, or system, or hardware, you should be able to find a list of all the hardware in your computer.
In XP type processor in the search

Yes! First re-install the heatsink/fan combo with sum new thermal paste. Don't want that cpu to fry! Now I suggest downloading for free, CPU-Z from CPUID.com. You'll have all the info on your hardware you ever wanted! (It's a tiny program, with no junk attached!) You can type the numbers on the cpu that you found into your search bar, also. (CPU-Z will tell you ALL, though!)
