siamese breeders/owners... general questions?
some background information... this will be my first pedigreed cat. the kitten comes with current vaccines, 1 year genetic health guarantee, and will already be altered. it will be at least 16 weeks old before the breeder will re-home it. i've already been through the screening process and approved by the breeder to purchase... i just need to select my kitten and make a deposit to hold it.
1) whats the average price of a pet quality kitten from two GC parents with CFA titles and multiple generations of champions in pedigree?
2) is royal canin (what the breeder feeds) ok for cats or would it be better to use evo or cannidae
3) are there any questions i should ask the breeder before i put a deposit on a kitten, that i dont already know (see above information)?
answers not addressing this post will be ignored
amy* thanks for your input but i'm not getting a mix... and purebred show cats sell for WAY above 300 dollars from any reputable breeder

I've got lots of Siamese experience, LOL! Been owned by them for years, and very involved in Siamese Rescue. Anyway ...
Expect to pay several hundred dollars or more for a kitten from a reputable breeder. Proper cat care is NOT cheap, and the best breeders have invested a small fortune in their cats. Vaccines, alters, vet visits - all of these will be included in the price of your kitten, and actually would have cost you at least $200 if not more.
Royal Canin is a fine food, although EVO and Cannidae are better ones. RC is the sponsor of many cat shows, so I'm not surprised that many breeders offer it. The good thing about RC is that it's readily available in the chain pet stores, so most people will probably continue to feed it rather than stoop to feeding something they find at the grocery store :o( Personally, I feed all my kittens (rescue kittens, but still kittens!) EVO and have been very impressed with the results.
Have you been to the breeder's home and actually seen the kittens? What you want to do is make sure your kitten is properly socialized. Many breeders have too many in the house, and they aren't very social. Great pedigrees - but not necessarily great pets. If you can't visit in person, ask for references so that you can approve the breeder in addition to her approving you.
Good luck with your new baby - Siamese are really unique and special!

I don't know how much they cost where you are, but here in the UK a pure bred Siamese would start at about £300 ($600) for a pet quality cat, and cost more for a show quality or breeding quality cat. Pet quality doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the cat, just that there is a small feature that means it wouldn't do well in a show, and such cats can have great pedigrees. I think pure bred cats in the US cost a bit less than over here, but I would expect to pay about $400 - $700 or maybe a bit more. But whatever the breeder asks, it's considered very bad form to haggle! If it's more than you want to pay, you can try to find another breeder but I don't think you'll get a cat from a reputable breeder for much less than that.

I have a 4yr old male & 9 month female both Siamese mix. Still vocal, but not as vocal and larger build. Both fetch, sit, and do other tricks. Mother n law a dog breeder, not against breeding but prefer the rescue. Pure breed is about $300+, and I spend that in the first year with a mix breed. Go by personality. Sweet, cuddly ones win the heart and have a heart. Found my mix online.
