He was preparing for his rise to power in WW1 but the war was not about him specifically. He fought in WW1. Adolf Hitler began his rise to political power in 1919, the year after World War I had ended. The German Empire had been defeated, and the nation's economy lay in ruins. Hitler joined a small group of men who became known as Nazis. He soon became their leader. Hitler and his followers believed he could win back Germany's past glory. He promised to rebuild Germany into a mighty empire that would last a thousand years. On Sept. 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. (This is when WW2 began.) Britain and France declared war on Germany. Italy's dictator, declared war on France and Britain on June 10, 1940, when the defeat of France seemed certain. On June 22, 1940, France signed an armistice with Germany. In June 1941, the attack on the Soviet Union began. On July 20, 1944, Hitler narrowly escaped death when a German Army officer placed a bomb in Hitler's briefing room. World War II (1939-1945) killed more people, destroyed more property, disrupted more lives, and probably had more far-reaching consequences than any other war in history.

Yes:
Hitler served in France and Belgium as a runner for the 16th Bavarian Reserve Regiment (called Regiment List after its first commander), which exposed him to enemy fire. He drew cartoons and instructional drawings for the army newspaper.
Hitler was twice decorated for bravery. He received the Iron Cross, Second Class, in 1914 and the Iron Cross, First Class, in 1918, an honour rarely given to a Gefreiter. However, because the regimental staff thought Hitler lacked leadership skills, he was never promoted to Unteroffizier. Other historians say that the reason he was not promoted is that he was not a German citizen. His duties at regimental headquarters, while often dangerous, gave Hitler time to pursue his artwork. In 1916, Hitler was wounded in the leg but returned to the front in March 1917. He received the Wound Badge later that year. Sebastian Haffner, referring to Hitler's experience at the front, suggests he did have at least some understanding of the military.

Yes, he was in WWI which it is surprising that he didn't learn from that not to fight a 2 front war. Although it is a good thing for us that he did because the world could very well have been a very different place if he did not.

Yes, he fought in WW1
In 1909, at the age of eighteen, Hitler was supposed to enlist in the Austrian Army. He despised Austria and did not want to serve the Austrian Army, so he ignored the call up papers. After four years the Austrian Army caught up with him and forced him to take a physical. At the physical he was said to be "Unfit for combatant and auxiliary duty-too weak. Unable to bear arms."
At the outbreak of World War One Hitler got his chance to prove that Germany was superior to other countries. When Hitler heard the news of war he claimed "I was overcome with impetous enthusiasm, falling on my knees, wholeheartedly thanked Heaven that I had been granted the happiness to live life at this time" Hitler volunteered for the German Army and was accepted. Hitler often volunteered for dangerous missions, like taking messages to the front line. Hitler's fellow soldiers thought he was strange, one of them described him as "an isolated figure who spent long periods of time sitting in the corner holding his head in silence. Then all of a sudden he would jump up and make a speech." In October 1918 Hitler was blinded in a British chlorine attack. While he was recovering in the hospital he heard the news that Germany had surrendered. He was extremely depressed and would not talk to anyone for days. Hitler won 5 medals, including the Iron Cross during his service in World War One.

Yes, he was. That is where he got the knights cross that you see in all the pictures. It's the only medal he would ware. If I am not mistaken( I could be) he was the last one alive out of his squad on a couple of occasions.
There is one thing I know from this question you asked. (It's not the your question, its the answers you got.) That is that we need to get the federal government out of education ASAP. People are getting way to dumb, way too fast!

Yes he was, and enough people have already said he was a Corporal, and I think he even suffered injuries and gas attack, although no sympathy for them the germans were the first to use gas
