Why is vista so so so so pants?
Got a new laptop 3 days ago and was forced to have vista on it, psh.
So far ive had 3 BSODs, 4 startups where it goes "ooh ooh something's wrong but i wont tell you what or why". It's REALLY slow and now it's stopped playing my music. Just, stopped. Fine. FINE.
Damn you vista! you've taken my money, my time and now you've taken my MUSIC!

Frankly, Vista is one of the worst creations I have ever had the misfortune of examining just to see what the heck happened to it. Most of the code they're using is hodgepodge (that explains why BSODs are so common), the removal of the sound systems from Kernel.dll made a mess of everything (they really didn't know what the hell they were doing when they did it), and they failed to take into account that, because they didn't release samples of their source code to developers, applications supposedly compatible with Vista really aren't. Also, Vista SP1 is even MORE of the failure than retail (I know, doesn't that seem impossible?) In all honesty, I suggest just finding a copy of XP and getting XP SP2, downgrading out of the hellish monstrosity that is known as Vista.

If you have any XP discs laying around from your old computer(s), you could just reinstall. Make sure, before you do, that there are drivers on the internet for XP for all your hardware. Sometimes, you can't get them. :\
Another thing that might help is to uninstall all the preinstalled crap that comes with any new laptop. You probably had a bunch of unnecessary stuff, like maybe a trial for an antivirus program (get AdAware or SpyBot and a free antivirus like AVG) or an off-the-wall photo program like Corel Draw or a music jukebox program that you'll never use. Clean it out!
