Pick a color for me?

I'm too old for my current red-n-black look i created right out of college. I need to give it up.

I can think of the following colors that are acceptable to me, and should be acceptable to people my age (29). I'm done with expressing myself, i'm ready to live like a normal person, but actually picking a color i don't like (but can accept) over my current look is too depressing. Pick one for me please. I can live happily with the following colors:

1) green (medium colored, not too light or dark. Probably lots of leaf patterns i guess.).

2) mostly lavender (with maybe some purple)

3) pastel orange, like a really light orange or burnt orange. with browns i suppose.

4) aqua / blue-green

i don't think i can handle any shades pink, yellow, grey, or most pastels (decorating with them would be too depressing), but if there is another color you thing belongs in a 29yrold female's apartment, please suggest.

Update:

looks like green wins. Plus i got a green-n-white set for my bed already sitting in the closet. i think "sage" girl will get best anwer because I don't care about avoiding prints in order to be "in style" (!) or working hard to merge my sense of beauty with the conventional sense at a paint store. tho the lavendar and black room at the link below is beutiful, i'm not going to spend that much time and money on material objects for an apartment that's supposed to be temporary. I just want a normal (to you guys) room i can live in without hating it like i'd hate a pink room. Couple of green rugs, curtains, pictures, and i'm all set.

I am a huge fan of green - either an apple green (yellowy) or a grey-green (sage). Green promotes harmony and restfulness.

Lately, I've seen a ton of stuff in aqua or a robin's egg blue, with brown as an accent color. It's a nice combination. You could probably find a lot of accessories to match.

We have walls in an open living area in three shades of an almost teal-green, a bluish green. Try NEVER to pick a green with a yellow undertone. (have heard and read that from several designers, it's just too easy for a yellow-based green to go wrong on you...)

Go for the bluish green tones. Green is the best color because it is the easiest for the eye to perceive, and therefore the most relaxing and soothing. Our greens are dark, darker, DARKEST, and we love them.

Our bedroom is a dark, dark velvety blue, and we have a white stepped ceiling. All our rooms have white trim and white doors, with stepped white ceilings and white plantation shutter to set off the rich dark colors.

That's our main rooms. In my previous home, I had aqua/teal bedrooms (relaxing, soothing) and terra cotta in the living room. A pinky-browny-orange. A lot of things go with the terra cotta color, it was a great choice for 20 yrs. you don't have to match the furniture. My furniture is dk green and burgundy, with turq and mushroom accent colors -- and looked awesome against terra cotta walls.

or, you could go trendy - -(not really trendy, because it's a classic color combo) and do brown/aqua or brown/pale blue.

If you don't to go too bold, but are a little adventurous...save the wildness for your bathrooms. They are small and easy to modify back and forth. We have a light chocolatey (think Yoohoo drink) bath with aqua, teal, lime and dark brown accents in the shower curtain, candles, etc. Dark brown and aqua and white towels, with dark brown mats.

And another bathroom with a darker, greyer brown with dark blue shower curtain, dark blue and dark brown towels with dark brown mats, and cobalt blue suncatchers, vases -- with cobalt and white and pale blue candles and things.

use color! It's only paint! You can always do it over on a weekend!

Try finding a nice suede brown to go with a soft blue or green. Stay away from prints as they go in an out of style pretty quick. You can use black for a mature feeling if used with a pastel colour such as lavender or pink or when used with white. Reds are very instyle right now and can be used with most other colours for a mature room with a young feeling.

Try going to home hardware and looking at some paint swatches and talking with a paint expert and they can help you try to find some design ideas to incorperate your likes with a mature feeling. Try looking through design magazines for ideas as well. Cut out picture of what you like and paste it on a board. When you go in to buy your paint and stuff ask for some help to combine your ideas

I think a deep blue-green would look lovely. Something like "Turkish Tile" by sherwin williams:
