How can I better manage my time working at home with a baby?

I am a writer, and I have a 14-month-old baby, a teenager and a husband. I find myself up until 3 or 4 am trying to work .... Does anyone have tips on managing my time a bit better?

Honestly, you need to find someone to come sit with the baby a couple of days per week while you write--either at Starbucks or locked upstairs. You need a set schedule for working, as well as for your 14 mo old. Here's a thought: 1/2 an hour in the morning while your 14 mo old plays. Then, 2 hrs while the baby naps, and when your teenager gets home, he/she needs to watch the baby two or three days per week (if the teenager is ok with it) and you need to pay him/her. Then, when your hubby gets home, he takes the baby for an hour and gets dinner ready. You all eat together, then you spend some quality time with your teenager while hubby gets the baby ready for bed. It's not ideal, but it will buy you a few hours and it's not at 3 am. Or, you work on the weekends while your hubby is in charge of childcare.

Do you have a husband? Maybe your husband can take a few hours in the evening to take care of your baby while you work.. otherwise, maybe a Nanny a few days a week would be great.. the Nanny can take your 14-month old for walks.. to the park.. or just sit and play while you work in your enclosed office. It would be best for you to get on a set time routine for work hours every day.. make lists of things to do. Best Wishes. ;-)

It is really hard! I work from home as well...and I have finally gotten better at it.

I make a list every morning right before my daughter wakes, I even list stupid things like, shower, check email. I also list my daily tasks, even though I do them every singel day, like, check email, pull receipts, expense report for Client X, make phone calls, check messages. Then for big stuff like putting together an estimate (we own a remodeling company). I do ONLY that during my 12 month old's naps. When I mark thing soff the list I feel so productive and focused.
