I would like to know why the film "The Kite Runner" was virtually ignored by the Academy Awards.?

I recently saw it, and it has been YEARS since I saw a movie that had me thinking & talking about it for days afterward.

Update:

I'm most interested in hearing from those who have actually read the book or seen the film.

I read the book. I haven't seen the movie yet. If you haven't read the book read it. I read it in like 2 days on breaks at work. I couldn't put it down. The Academy Awards always leave out an amazing movie

It has been a month since I read the book and I still think about it

Well, apparently, you liked more than they did
