I had 2 at 37 weeks. You can be partially dialated for weeks so don't stress about that part.

I never had braxton hicks or contractions then my waters broke and 2 days later I was induced (both times). I'm currently 34 weeks with no 3.

    Good luck

With my first pregnancy, I started dilating around that time. I was able to get t 37 1/2 weeks. He was 5 lbs 12 oz.

Sometimes dilation takes a few hours, but sometimes weeks. I've been pretty slow. The last time I took about 2 weeks also. But the doctor sent me to the hospital because I was a little over 7 cm and he said he didn't want me walking around like that.

So hopefully you can hang on a little longer, you don't want a premie.

Relax your baby will be fine I was 38wks but I had no pain really i was 2cm for a week then finally I was induced even though I was still at 2cm. The baby is fully developed and if you haven't been told of any problems I wouldn't worry. The baby will begin to drop and you will notice that your belly is not sitting as high as before. The cramping may be caused by all the pressure of the baby shifting, I wouldn't be too concerned unless you start spotting. Jus try to relax and get as much rest as possible. My lil girl was 7lbs 9oz that was 6yrs ago so its a lil hard for me to remember The real pain started after the dr. broke my water.

Take care, Congratulations and Welcome to motherhood!!!

My son was born at 36 wks and 3 days. At 34 weeks, I was dilated to 2 cm and 75% effaced. I was on Brethine for two weeks to stop the contractions (I didn't even know I was having them). After I hit 36 weeks, I went to the dr and she said I could quit taking the meds. My son was born the next day. He weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 19 inches. He needed steroids for his lungs, but it was like two shots and he's been fine.

i'm 36 weeks too, and it's normal for you to be dialated anywhere from 1-3 centimenters by this point. you may even experience some 'contractions', but it's possible that they will go away. and now that the baby has dropped, you'll probably feel pain (period like pain, for example) because of all the pressure now resting on your bladder, hips, ovaries, ect.

i've been assured a million times that my baby would be fine if i delivered now, so i wouldn't worry too much! you're only seven days away from being full term (37 weeks). if your baby were to be born now, his/her lungs may not be developed, but it's very likely that they are. if not - they would just be put on some oxygen for awhile to make sure they're able to breath on their own. but basically, your baby is very viable and has 99.9% chance of survival. i hope that cleared up some worries.. i'm in the same boat!

Both of my boys where born at 36 weeks because I had a weak cervix. You're only 2 cm right now, once you start opening more, like 7 cm, you'll feel more pain when you get contractions.

    Don't worry.

My first baby was born at 34 weeks and was fine, she didn't need any help to breathe and didn't spend any time in NICU, it took a few days to get her feeding properly, but that was the only problem.

And after that all my babies have been born at around 37 weeks.

Your wee one will be fine.

Its totally possible. But in the last week of pregnancy your baby's brain developing.....keep it in as long as possible!

you can be dilated for a while too....I was dilated for like three weeks!
