cd drivew door will not open?
the door for the cd drive will not open for whatever reason and there is a disc in there our current pc has an available expansion bay so if we needed to install a new cd writer how easy is this to do, does it just slide in or does it connect to something inside the pc..or should i just spend the money to have the geek squad do it

I've had this problem before working as tech support, does the CD drive light up when you turn on the computer? If not then you can try switching the molex power cable on it with a spare one on your system. In my case that was the only problem and the CD drive worked again after that.

It's really easy to install a CD writer. Simply put in the new drive where your existing drive is. Hook up the cables that were attached to the original drive. If you're still not sure, I guess you could go to geek squad, but they'll charge you like $40.
Your existing drive should have a button somewhere on it to eject the tray, so you can retrieve the disc stuck in the system.

On the front of a cd drive there is a tiny hole. Stick a flattened paper clip or similar item in it to open the drive to get out your disk.
Installing a new disk drive is extremely simple. Full instructions are below. Basically you open up the pc, slide out the drive, put another drive in it's place & reattach the 2 cables that were attached to the original drive. You can't attach the cables wrong, they only hook up 1 way.
