Tarot question?

I have seen a few about the tarot in here so I figured I would add it here to try to get more answers.

I posted this on a forum also but I just need as many opinions as possible because its a hard decition. Also I dont need rude answers I dont have time for that if you dont like Tarot cards dont answer.

I am making my own deck but I am using animals to help me remember the meanings so it is involving TONS of reasearch because I am doing a full deck not just the MA.

I am first doing the Major though and I have run into some confusion!

On one deck that I have which is my fav. (The Medieval Scapini Tarot)

8 is justice

11 is force

On the other that I have (The Lovers Tarot)

8 is strength

11 isJustice

From what I have gathered Force and Strength are pretty much the same. But I am having trouble on where to put Justice does it belong on 8 or 11 or does it even matter? I am trying to go more traditional. Where is it on your deck and what do you think?

Also if you would...

I am not to new to tarot cards I have had mine for about 2 years and I love them very much but I feel like making my own will help me to learn more about each card and understand them better I am looking at at least a year or two in making them.

Oh for The Fool I am using Tazmanian Tiger (its extinct) so if you have any suggestions on other animals I gladly accept that too!

Update:

OMG! I never thought about it that way. I have been sitting here so worried and I guess it really doesnt matter does it? lol thanks.

I can assure you that making your own tarot deck will be very rewarding. I can also assure you that the correspondences on the cards are NOT arbitrary. Most of the functional decks, as opposed to art decks, are modeled on the Tree of Life. If you look up a group called BOTA, they have a whole course in making your own cards. Also there is great book called Understanding the Thoth Tarot by Lon Milo Duquette, that goes into a really great deception and reasons why the cards are what they are and how where they are impacts them.

My favorite deck is the Thoth deck and there Lust (Strength in Rider Waite) is the Zodiacal Trump of Leo. It 19th path and is the card of the Sun. It runs from Sphere of Mercy (Jupiter) to the Sphere of Strength (Mars) using a Queen color scale. I can assure you that there is NOTHING arbitrary about that deck. That doesn't mean that you cannot make up your own correspondences and work with them. In fact I encourage that effort! It is just a good idea to know what those are BEFORE you change them. Sometimes there are really good reasons why something is the way that it is.

Since the Fool card is really the only card in the deck and ultimately represent us (the rest of them live inside of it) you may want to give that one special consideration. The Fools Journey may be very hard to undertake if you extinct :)

    Good luck and enjoy!

I have many decks and some are Strength 8 or Justice 8-

either way you look at it it fits. I personally prefer Justice to be 11 since the number has that balance the scales appearance.

As for the Fool, good point made about being extinct.

I would think about what animal is aloof and a clown, an animal that goes out into the world with little fear.

Meerkats a pretty silly little critters, but tend to be quite cautious.

Dolphins are playful and silly at times, they are also quite creative and smart.

Hmmm, I'd have to think on that fool/animal thing some more

you might want to try looking at the shapeshifter tarot, which i use as my primary tarot deck. you can always browse in wicca shops - most have sample decks that were donated, and lots of decks have shaman type animal decks. i have an all north american animal deck, which i use only for natives. i have a hawaiian animal deck which i use for the locals here, unless they ask for another deck. in total, i have 18 decks, and am looking for another one.

i agree that justice seems right to be 11, because of the scales and balance, and the fact that it's a power number.

if you use the justice card as number 8, just think about the sign sideways as being the infinity sign or the cause and effect sign. either one will work, but for some reason almost all my decks have justice as the 11th spot.

    BEWARE!

These are the original Egyptian Tarot cards from which so many other Tarot decks derived.

    http://www.vopus.org/en/content/view/345...

They are sacred and we are not allowed to ask any unserious question(like "how will be the weather tomorrow", "am I beautiful or not", yes-no questions, etc.); the question must be serious(for example "why don't I get a job yet?", "what can I do to solve my family problem?","why I still can't find my soulmate",etc.). Also they must be sanctified before use, not letting others touch them(they'll lose accuracy since they will be charged with your energy), make some prayers before asking the Tarot, asking our Inner Father(the Divine within us to answer our question through the cards- the cards don't give an answer on their own, it's our inner Being that gives the answer through them), we must cense them before asking, sitting in a protective circle and so on.

Tarot cards are very attacked by Demons that is why we need to be careful not to use Tarot cards that you can find at any store, that are just derived from the originals and need to perform some protection stuff before using them. Cards being attacked by Demons=> attacking us too, our minds of course(I remember 2 dreams where one made incantations to my mind and I had to burn the cards).

I don't think it matters what card number you have Justice or strenght at. its your deck as long as you can read your cards have your own meaning. The number of the card is pretty redundant. They are major arcana . I use mythic and placement of numbers doesnt matter if your pulling a spread.
