xp v vista?
we have xp and office 2003 at home, at school there is vista and my daughter wrote stuff at school and put it on a memory stick to bring home and finish. we have a problem now as it wont work here.
any ideas apart from installing vista that the information can be bought up here at home???

I had the same problem but soon found out its so simple to solve...
when saving the document select "save as" and directly below the text box where you choose the name there is a drop down menu ... just select office word 2003-2005 or watever one you have at home

If you wish to stick with the same type of file, I suggest downloading the free software openoffice.org. It is capable of opening many different documents and editing them in that format. It is easier when you wish to open it up again at school.

you dont have to install vista on your PC.
you must know first what kind of software your daughter used on the windows vista PC because you might not have one on you winXP PC. maybe the software on your PC just needs an update that is why its not recognizing the file....
