Getting ready to deploy?

I've got about 1.5 to 2 months before I deploy. This is my first one and i'm a little nervous. Couple of questions: 1. Any suggestions to make the deployment a little easier? I'm doing my pre-deployment check list, but was wondering if there are anything things that are not "taught". 2. I heard that it would be a good idea to mail a locked footlocker ahead of time to your deployed location with beddings, is that true? 3. I want to be in really good shape. What are some workout techniques I can use. To improve my run time and my muscle endurance. Lots of weight to carry.

Thanks!

Update:

I'm in the Air Force. Going to Iraq. Can't disclose location due to OPSEC. Hope this helps out a little.

Yes, a good idea is to ship some of your big stuff in a plastic footlocker (Found at any Lowes or Home Depot. Remember to look for the ones that can be mailed! Mine had a yellow lid and think they still sell those.). Send it about a week prior to you heading off. It should be there about a week after you get there. Maybe 2. Either way, you don't have to cart it everywhere.

PT: Just keep running and lift weights. Not only does it make you feel better, keep you healthy, but it helps reduce stress before the deployment.

    Good luck!
