how does it aid in their survival...(general reasons)

    some examples

plants in an open field getting lots of sunlight... thats good

plants in a cave not getting any sunlight... thats bad

the environment in which an organism lives is one of the (if not the most important) factor if its survival. Organism get most of their nutrients either directly or indirectly(eating a producer) from the environment.

if a bacterium lives where there is very little iron for example it will grow very slowly(generally)

also the stresses from the environment could be factors in its evolution/adaption

Components of the environment are, rain (drinking water), Sun (feeling warm), earth (protection (digging holes), grass and plants (food), fresh air (oxygen) what else can you think about.
