There is a song called "Fire" I want to know who sings it. The original artist.?
Babyface and Des'ree redid it but they are not the original singers. I believe the song came out in 1979
The first line in the song is:
I'm riding in your car
you turn on the radio
you're pulling me close
I just say no
I say I don't like it
But You know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss
Ooh...
Fire

here's the lyrics:
I'm ridin' in your car, you turn on the radio
You're pullin' me close, I just say no
I say I don't like it, but you know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire
Late at night, you're takin' me home
You say you wanna stay, I say I wanna be alone
I say I don't love you, but you know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire
You had a hold on me right from the start
A grip so tight I couldn't tear it apart
My nerves all jumpin', actin' like a fool
Well, your kisses they burn, but my heart stays cool...
Well, Romeo and Juliet, Samson and Delilah
Baby you can bet a love they couldn't deny
My words say split, but my words they lie
'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire
SOLO
Ooh fire...
Kisses like fire...
Burn me up with fire
I like what you're doin now, fire
Touchin me, fire
Touchin me, burnin me, fire
Take me home

It was recorded by David Allen Coe but it was written with John Prine and added to by Steve Goodman in an attemt to as they say. cleverly write the "perfect" country song. If you are familiar with last verse and the commentary, you will note that he makes mention of it; somewhat along the lines of the old adage that country songs are always about a woman leaving or love gone bad etc. but they added grandma going to prison and the dog being run over by a train. here is a brief excerpt on their explanation of the song... "This is a song I wrote with John Prine 4 years ago (1972) and we tried to put into one song, everything that had ever been in any of the country and western songs we had ever heard. Tried to put it all into one song. Serves us right. This is what came out:
