which Filipino products and brands do you choose over a foreign one? Why? Do you believe that we have a GLOBAL brand and a product with global quality, meaning one which can compete and be accepted in first world countries?

The following are the local companies that I use or buy always. The quality of these goods are as the multinational brands. It does not matter if these brands get sold in first world countries what is more important is that they're of the highest quality and exploring new markets not necessarily first world.

Splash Corporation's toiletries and its Biolink brand of soaps, shampoos and conditioners.

Lamoiyan Corporation's Hapee toothpaste. this company has started to export to Vietnam

    ACS Manufacturing's Pride laundry detergents

Alaska Milk's dairy products. it bought Nestle's canned milk operations

Unilab's medicines and supplements like Biogesic, Revicon, Enervon and Ritemed generics. the company also exports medicines within South East Asia

    San Miguel's Magnolia ice cream

Arce Dairy's ice cream (the founders of Selecta ice cream)

Universal Robina's Jack N' Jill snacks is being sold in South East Asia including Singapore.

Liliw tsinelas vs havaianas - we have good local brands of slippers that are so nice but cheap, havaianas slippers worth more than a feast for a family of 8 in one day. price ranges from P850-2000. One average family spends around 500 a day.

Batangas brewed coffee vs starbucks - we can have a good coffee for 20 people for P25 bucks. true, its one takal (cup) of batangas kapeng barako, while we spend around P100 for one cup of starbucks brewed coffee.

I am just stating that we have a lot to be proud of. We can still make this country a better one if we just all work together, be creative and resourceful.

Hmmm... nice question though. I want to do business with my examples of quality and cheap products of the Philippines.

I like san mig light than any other beer in world.

As a photographer, Paul C. Buff's number one competitor when it comes to portable power solutions for flash and power pack units (boxes and umbrellas with lights, used in studios) is located in the Philippines, I just found out. I have to buy it online in US$ dollars since they are only exporting it. I learned about it from a forum (photography websites). Photographers in Europe, North and South America, Australia, and even in Africa are talking about it in the forum. The product is being shipped from the PH to anywhere in the world. Having this product invented I salute Innovatronix Inc. for making it worldwide.

I'm sure there are still a lot of brands and products that can make it worldwide. I just wish that someday I can buy san mig light anywhere or just even in any place where a shoot.

San Miguel Pale Pilsen, the BEST beer in the world! The taste is excellent compare to the leading brand of USofA. I've visited some cities in Europe and Asia and tasted their beer but SMB excels most. We must be proud of it!

Tanduay Rhum. Look at the medals that it received at back portion of the bottle from the "World Selection of Wine and Spirits" at France.

OFW's. You too, can vouch for that!

So, be proud to be a Filipino. Buy Filipino!

i would wish that our products can complete worldwide.

i was in the grocery one day and i thought that i should buy our products.. i feel degraded after working with foreigners especially koreans, japanese and the chinese and some thais that when we go to the grocery, they always ask me "hey, ive never seen made in the philippines.."

yes, how true! maybe there are some but most are form other countries... thailand.. indonesia.. israel and even vietnam..

sometimes, we are also tricked.. the package says "manufactured in laguna" but when you look at it closer, it will say made in somewhere.. really.. try it..

for now, im only sure about jollibee and happee toothpaste. so ill buy from them.. :)

    Personally,

it's Purefoods Corned Beef over Ox & Palm's Corned Beef, our local brand has more taste than the imported counterpart.

when it comes to clothing, i like Kamiseta, Bayo & Plains and Prints. I also favor our purefoods hotdogs and Jollibee!

to answer your q, yes, i think some of the local brands can be globally competitive

Boy Bawang (Philippine brand) over Corn Nuts (US brand)

even though boy bawang cost more here in the USA, i'd rather eat that then the shitty corn nuts.

    but i would rather eat

Fritos (US Brand) over Chippy (Philippine brand)

    because chippy tastes like crap.
