True Meaning of MVP?
A MVP award should go to the player who is MOST VALUABLE to his TEAM, and not himself, or the most popular player, or one who is spoken of more often than another.
LeBron, while I like him on or off the court is not the MVP this season. We expect him to perform as he does night in night out, however, he isnt most vaulable to hsi team, a supporting cast who is most inconsistent. The Cavs also, are not leading The Pistons or/and their division, or even the league for that matter. Kobe, while I dont care for him on or off the court or The Lakers, is more vaulable to his team, for The Lakers have made a huge turn around from last season and are leading The Suns, and their division. Though his supporting cast is more consistent, they are also as valuable, so he shouldnt get it either. Nash we expect him to dish out 10 assits a night, but does he step up offensively, defensively, make big plays? No, not too often or consistent enough to be " most valuable".. Someone like Manu Ginobili is.
OH I GET IT, sadly you dont. You still remain insistent on picking your favorite player, and NOT the actual player that is more valuable to his team and helps his team win. LeBron and The Cavs woudl have more W's if he were valuable, while that does not take away his true talent. Kobe has a betetr supporting cast and because of that cast, they have improved as a team. He still scores his 30 plus every night, we are used to that, but he was scoring 30 when The Lakers were medicore as well. The media over dramatizes as usual and puts out there who they feel, the more popular player, shoudl get it. Heck, the season wasnt even a month old and Kenny Smith was saying how Garnett shoudl be MVP LOL>

i think your right people forget the meaning of MVP I don't think over the last 3 years i don't think it has gone to the right player. nash nore dirk play defense. they are good offensive players but there teams could still win without them.
Ginobili shouldn't get it ya he has played great but they have 3 great playes Tim duncan and tony parker have both played great this season besides getting hurt and when one of the 3 go down 1 of the other two step up right now Ginobili is steping up because parker is still hurt.
the award should go to ethier. Chris Paul, Dwight howard, chris bosh, or kobe bryant.
Chris Paul plays great defense and can score or pass the ball he is making his team so much better. they wouldn't be the worst team but they wouldn't be great.
dwight howard is having a break out season leading the league in dunks and rebonds. he is the magic's go to guy this year he is playing good defense on top big man and dominating.
Chris bosh the Raptors wouldn't be where they are without him great ball movement can run the floor good defense and good fundementals.
Kobe Bryant ok even though you don't care for the lakers. he should have won it the last 2 years he carried the team to the playoffs and people don't see what he does when he is on the floor. he gets double teamed so there is always someone open. he plays great defense. this year the players on his team are just hitting more open shots that they didn't last year. plus he can close out games.

Its a popularity contest, in all sports. Look at the NBA, where Kobe was considered an MVP candidate, when it was actually Shaq that was the team's most valuable player. Look at baseball, where pitchers never win MVP, but any analyst will tell you that "pitching is what wins World Series." And in football, its who is more popular, not who is more valuable. Remember the year after the Rams won the Super Bowl and the year after Kurt Warner won the MVP, and they gave the award to Marshall Faulk, even though the Eagles had become a one-man team under Donovan McNabb? McNabb was easily the team's most valuable player, but the more popular Faulk won the award. Or how Peyton Manning ever won the award. Obviously, all these years its been Marvin Harrison that was the team's most valuable player; how's Peyton doing now that Harrison's out? Not very good, huh? 6 INTS in one game? But Manning is one of the most popular players in the game, because of his commercials and whatnot, so he won the award 2 years in a row, even though its obviously Harrison's presence on the field that makes Manning play as well as he does. The MVP award should be renamed.

Each team votes for their OWN MVP. The League MVP should be the best player in the league. The Lakers have improved this year but also have added Pau Gasol which has made a huge impact on that team. KG has been awesome for the Celtics but certainly hasn't done it all by himself. I think you have ot look at King James as the MVP for his outstanding all-round play. 30.3 points, 8.1 rebs., 7.5 assts., 2 steals, 1 block per game. I don't know what else you could ask for.

Manu Ginobili is probably the Most Valuable Player of the Spurs right now aside from Timmy. But the definition of MVP this season? It's Kobe Bryant. Give it to him. Hands down. He is this season's MVP.

MVP means he got the talent, and he's a role model to his team...he know how to lead his team mates... a good leader in and out on the basketball court...must lead his team into a ring or atleast be a tough contender in the leauge...and must prove he's a valuable one in the team that without him, his team will be nothing...lol!
