reporting tax fraud?
reporting a deadbeat dad working off the books
I would like to report my husbands co-worker for fraud. He claims he does not work and there fore can not pay child support for his two kids. His ex-wife is barely getting by and because of him she and her kids had to go on food stamps and gov't health insurance. He brings home alomst $1,100 a week off the books. He is working for his uncle(the same place my husband works). I think it is horrible what he is doing to his children, and that my taxes have to support his kids when he is able to. My question is if I call the phone number to report him, will they be able to track me by my phone number and will i be talking to a real person or a voice recording. I want to help his wife and kids but if his uncle (the boss) finds out my husband will lose his job and we can not afford that.

Report him to the state authorities first.......and your husband's employer is also going to be in trouble.

What Truee said !!!
If you are going to take action on this issue, your hubby better have another job lined up !!!
If (and I mean IF) the IRS spends the time and $$ to follow your complaint up and actually do something about it, they will go after the person who OWNS the company for paying someone off the books....
See not only is your husband's coworker cheating the system and his kids, your husband's EMPLOYER is getting off cheap b/c he's not paying into the tax system when he pays his people cash off the books.
The IRS will go after the OWNER and everyone will be out of a job. I know what this guy is doing sucks BIG TIME and its wrong. However, you need to ask yourself if you are willing to cause this much trouble in everyone's lives (everyone tht works for this company) in order to set it straight?
I'd ask your husband to think it over, then ask him if he feels comfortable working for a cheat - because that's what he's doing. If he is willing to leave, THEN get the facts together and call the IRS on the way out the door to the next employer.
Otherwise - leave it alone...

Your co-worked needs to go to Family Court to file a petition to indicate that he isn't paying support. If she can get an attorney, the attorney can file an Income Deduction Order and get the co-worker the money that way. The attorney can also take care of the off-the-books issue.
This is your co-worker's problem, not yours. And no, they do not use voice recognition systems on their hotline!

You can call the IRS and report. They will not give out your info if you request that it remain anonymous.
However, before you do that I would make sure your husband has another job lined up. They're not going to go after the guy making $1000 a week. They're going to go after the man that owns the business which means that everyone can lose their job.

Write to:
Dept. of the Treasury
Internal Revenue Service
Department Manager
Taxpayer Relations
Atlanta, GA 30308
Tell them the story. Include Name and address of the person and the name and address of the company he works for.
We are all paying to support the deadbeat's kids and I don't want to do that.

After reading the posts of all these people calling you a "rat," I wanted to THANK YOU for reporting this person! Personally, I'm tired of my tax dollars supporting others who choose to forego their tax responsibilities. KUDOS TO YOU for doing what's right, regardless of the peer pressure of others' posts!

Call from a friend's phone or a pay phone. How wonderful for you to help! What a sin for a man to let his children suffer!

can,t bear blokes that exploit the child maintenance system, why not call them from a pay phone or write a letter.
