My black & white chihuahua's coat is changing color?

He was jet black and white until a few months ago now he is changing to a very dark brown with a black stripe down his back. He will be 2 years old next month. I have had many dogs but have never seen this before. Is this normal?

My chihuahua (Mia) did exactly the same, smaller dogs take longer to mature. Her stripe grew in when she was a year and a half.

He could be a dilute. The genes really explain it. I have a Portuguese Water Dog who was black as a puppy, but turned "silver" (an accepted color) when she was 1.

    Nothing to worry about.

Sometimes discolored black hair can be a sign of malnutrition, I seen it in a cat before. That's weird after 2 years to change hair color.
