Half life 2 installation problem?
when i try to install half life 2 it gives me an error message that if can't find hl2.cab file and tells me to verify it exists and access it. I found the file and its size is 640,000 kb, however it still says the same thing. I installed steam, but its still doesn't fix the problem. someone one said install it through steam, but how does that work? and any ideas how i can solve this problem?

To install through steam I assume you have a cd key with the cd, you open steam and go to the 'my games' tab, at the bottom there is a button that says 'activate a product on steam' type your cd key in there and it'l add half life 2 in the 'not installed' list which you may have to double click -or maybe it'll start downloading automatically.
You could always trying cleaning the disk first - maybe theres a hair on there getting in the way of precious data.

During the install when you're at the screen that says "Specify a location" or whatever, hit the Browse button. It'll be on C:\ (this is what it means by Root) so all you have to do is pick any other directory. (e.g., choose C:\Program Files instead)
