Thomas Hearns vs Mike McCallum who wins?

Mike McCallum was a predecessor to Winky Wright. He's good enough to trouble even the best but has no story or flare. Therefore he's carefully avoided by the elite because he's a great risk with little to gain and a lot to lose.

If Hearns is to fight McCallum it best be at 154. Hearns was Super Human at 154. I always thought that, had Leonard given Hearns a rematch at that weight he'd have his hands full. Hearns was a great welterweight but he struggled to make weight and over trained for the Leonard fight. Its amazing Ray didnt KO him earlier. Taking nothing from Leonard but he's more of a natural at 147 where the same holds true for Hearns at 154. Nobody can beat Hearns at in that class.

McCallum would certainly ''mess up Tommy's Jordans" (LOL sorry, just like the expression), getting him "all kinds-a-dirty" and tangled up. He would test Hearns in every way. McCallum is the the Jr. Middles of that time what Larry Holmes is to the heavyweight division's history. He could give anyone a hard time but he's not very appealing to the public. If Holmes were not a heavyweight he would not be considered great, though he would still be just as good as ever. ITs all in perception.

McCallum would push Hearns to the limit after surviving an early rounds scare. In round 5 "What the hell are you still doing here" would be written all over Hearns' face. Because Hearns would beat him from pillar to post in the early going.

After experiencing his own scare in the middle rounds, Hearns would dig deep into the well, as only he and a few others can. He would have to gut out the win but he'd do it mostly on the merritt of his early rounds success.

Hearns would win without question. However, the people would know he earned it the hard way. Mike McCallum would push Hearns to the brink and Hearns would push back. . . . . . and win.

I think it will a barnburner. Hearns has the reach advantage and has a tremendous jab to keep McCallum at bay. Hearns also has the foot speed to dance away from McCallum's hooks and crosses. But somewhere in the fight, McCallum will be able to trap Hearns on the ropes and "bodysnatch" Hearns will to fight. That will slow Hearns down enough for McCallum to beat him silly in the finall four rounds. Hearns, a true warrior who fought everyone, has a soft chin (as opposed to McCallum) and will go down in the late rounds. I see a late TKO in the 10, 11 or 12th round. It will be a test of wills: Hearns chin vs McCallum's chin. McCallum can take a punch and still keep up the pace.

The Bodysnatcher was a real talent but Thomas Hearns fought the best of his time and beat some of them (Duran, Benitez, Cuevas, Hill, ) lost to others (Hagler, Leonard, Barkley) and his draw with Leonard was a gift to Ray. McCallum never got his superfight until many years later when he fought Roy Jones but by then he was a shell of himself and his draw with James Toney was a bore. Thomas Hearns wins by comfortable 12 rd decision.
