baby food ideas for my 10 month old son?

i'm thinking of maybe making my own baby food instead of just what you can buy at the store, so i can give my 10 month old son a wider variety of foods. does any one have any suggestions on how to make my own baby food, where to start, or recipes. any advice would be really great. thanx.

Update:

my son doesn't have any of his teeth yet. he'll eat baby mum mums, but he chokes on the crackers i give him.

I just started making my own food for my 9 month old. i love it!! you can play around with different textures and spices. you can really be creative. i found some great recipies on this site and a great web site called Wholesomebabyfood.com is excellent also organic baby and toddler cookbook by lizzie Vann is an excellent read.

i use these individual containers called baby cubes. They are great because they hold 2oz worth and they have lids therefore i can stack them in my freezer and not have to worry about things falling on the food. i also love the fact that i can take out a container the night before and defrost it and its ready to go for lunch or dinner.

    Good luck and happy cooking

I just took my daughter off of baby food (atualy she just refusedit and only wanted the real stuff). She loves to feed herself so I mainly give her soft cubed peices of food. For example:

    Cheese

    avacado

    chicken

    carrots

    brocoli

    egg yolk

    lentils

    peach

    pear

    mango

    kiwi

    applesauce

    banana

    yogurt

    grapes

    rice

    oatmeal

I am sure there are more I just cant think of them. My daughter is just about 11 months and I just got the okay from my doctor to introduce wheat (whole grain bread, pasta, etc). Well I hope this helped. :)

Make dishes with pasta and blend lightly in the blender. Also, cooking veggies and making them finger food sized. Just stay away from hot dogs, rasins and nuts (choking hazard). When you have pizza, give him the crust (we used to call it the pizza bone). My kids all loved eating what we were.

Why can't you feed him pancakes for every meal? At ten months it doesn't have to be all puree. Even without teeth, bits of bread, well-cooked veggies, or soft fruits can be mashed between gums. If he has a bunch of teeth, he can deal with larger, firmer morsels.
