i don't believe that just using exit will turn it off u can try and disable it thru task manager....however...it may not let u ...due to protection it has for itself so spyware can't disable it ...if thats the case u can go into ur servises....start>run> type services.msc find all entries for norton/symantec and clik stop or from startup type u can pull down disable clik apply ok then reboot another option would just to run it from safe mode...actually probably the easiest

This is why i will never use a norton program again it causes so many problems with important windows features. This link may help you if you are using XP.

It did not work for me on Vista. I removed norton from my system. The norton support was awful i have posted feedback on the site asking for a solution that works on Vista but it was never updated.

    Good luck.

I don't use Nortons products. There should be an icon in your tray that when you open it will say "exit", and this will shut Nortons down. Or you can open the icon on your monitor and see where you can "exit", Nortons. This also will shut down Nortons.

Sorry wish I can be of more help. All antivirus/antispyware have and "exit", button that will shut the software down.
