    What B said!

Plus the Quran clearly states the equality of both men and women and humanity as a whole .

Unless, you decide to what men choose to say on the subject then you'll get a different version of the truth . Patriarchy is axiomatic and should be treated as such . It is everywhere , even in the way we translate and understand the Quran .

Equality is equality , no buts or ifs. If they won't budge we'll just kick their asses then ;-)

In Islam a man and woman are equal, its just that we have different roles in life or the house holds. the only Superior being is Allah and no human man or woman!

Although I appreciate and admire that Islam is the most monotheistic of all religions of the world ever (may be with the exception of Judaism), I simply dislike the Shariah laws because, just like B said, they are I think man made. I think that statements like "Islam is the solution for humanity" are just plain rubbish, in fact Islam is more of a problem than a solution! I would suggest you to not to look to Islam for the solution to all your problems. You can find more humane solutions in other religions like Christianity and Buddhism.

Remember that God is hidden from view, and in Islam all our focus is to perform the myriad rituals properly. God is not our focus. These rituals do not have any connection with God, unless you somehow make a faint connection. All these rituals make God even more hidden and make it difficult for us to focus on him. No wonder we have difficulty praying with full attention towards God!

Gender issue is just another stupid controversial matter to fight over in the name of religion, just like the issue of music. I would suggest do not bother about such stupid issues! The prime subject of any religion should be how good we can make ourself to be, how much we can feed the poor and clothe the naked, give shelter to the shelterless, love all humans irrespective of caste, creed (religion!) or colour, or nationality, to side with the orphans, be humble in the eyes of the God! Issues like the gender issue and music issue are plain rubbish, as are whether we should make friends with non-Muslims or not, and whether women should work or stay at home, whether music is haraam or not, whether burqa is right or jilbaab is wrong - this is all rubbish!

All humans are equal, but sometimes men and women have differences in equality due to their different roles in life.

Culture-wise sadly women are not seen as equal to men so they don't get as many opportunities as them, this varies in different cultures.

    salaam

    all humans are equal

there are differences between a man and a woman but a woman can do anything a man could do even better but we are suppose to respect each other

edit: man do not have more knoledge than us

only allah knows why he chose only men as prophets

he probably chose men because throughout history men were dominating over women

if a woman became a prophet then noone would listen to us because we have always been subsurviant times are changing now and women are gaining power

    we can do anything

    peace outzz

    edit: i agree with B

    peace outzz

I don't believe in ''Sharia law'' because many of the so called Sharia-laws are man-made laws, I believe in democracy and equality for all. And most of the Muslims here don't either, and they would NEVER live in a place like Saudi Arabia, it's all just rhetoric. I find it funny when Muslims who live in countries where there is a separation between religion and state start talking about how great theocracy and theocratic rule is, if that's not hypocrisy then I don't know what is.

Men and women are equal, but not the same.

    Big difference!!

Equality is not the same as similarity.

We are equal because we were all created by the one mighty god, but we are not similar...=)

    Peace out sis.......

I like to think men and women are equals. I get angry when people say men are better than women.

we are all equal, but Allah has created man to be in charge, and with more knowledge, why else are all of the Prophets were men?
