What type of noun is Sub-Saharan Africa?
There are different types of nouns, with different rules, such as collective nouns and mass nouns, but I'm unsure where Sub-Saharan Africa falls besides it being a propler noun, and I need to know. I will choose the most helpful answer as best.

Africa is the noun, Sub Saharan is an adjective. So the answer is, it depends upon the usage in the sentence. It would be a simple singular noun if it is referring to the region of Africa. It could also be used as a collective noun if it is referring to the many people and countries of that region.
