its because you left it in a format, which is incompatible with youtube

you probably left it MSWMM format which is only the project file not the movie file, you need to convert it to get it to upload successfully you need to convert it

follow these simple steps to get your video into an accepted file format and get it up and running on youtube:

    -open windows movie maker

    -press 'import audio/video

-import the video you tried to upload

-drag it to the time line

    -edit it (optional)

-press PUBLISH MOVIE (at the top of the screen in the middle) or if you have an older version of movie maker then press the file tab and then SAVE MOVIE AS (not save project as)

-press PUBLISH TO THIS COMPUTER/SAVE MOVIE AS

    -name it

    -save it

it will now convert to a WMV format and will save to your video folder

once it has completed do the following:

    -go to youtube

-press upload (in the top right hand corner of the home page)

    -fill in the video information

    -upload the video

-wait on that screen until it says your upload was successful and can be viewed shortly after it has finished processing

NOTE: it can take up to 6 hours to get a channel icon from your video and it can take up to 72 hours before your video will return in the searches but it can be viewed from your profile as soon as it has finished processing

    all the best

Listen to Jake. At least once a day there is a question on here about a video failing to upload to YouTube because of "wrong format." It is almost always because they are trying to upload the .mswmm project file instead of finishing the movie and converting it to a .wmv.

When you upload them does it have a short link or a one that take up a little more them the whole box? If it is the short one do the cycle again of choosing a file and wait untill the big link comes up. I wish your friend a happy birthday.

maybe the files too big and also when it says failed it should say in little letters wats wrong, or they sometimes hilghlight it with red, but you just have to see it

What format? Only .mov, .avi., .mpg and .wmv file types are accepted. Also the files can't be too large.
