Chimpansees are not monkeys, but apes, a group of primates which also includes man. Monkeys run on all four feet but apes can stand and waddle along for short distances. Chimps are around 4 feet tall, but there is a smaller subspecies known as the bonobo chimp. They tend to walk upright more often than chimps, but no ape can actually walk like a human can. It is because their pelvis is too wide and this prevents them from bringing their knees together like humans can. This gives apes a side to side rocking motion as they attempt to walk upright.

The smallest ape is the gibbon. These apes live almost all their lives in the trees swinging from branches. Their arms are far longer than their legs and they are often forced to walk upright when on the ground. They raise their arms and waddle along, and I suppose it looks quite amusing. In the trees however, they are graceful acrobats and can move very efficiently using only their arms to swing amoungst the branches.

I'm pretty sure you are talking about a lemur. They are an adorable member of the primate family with great big saucer eyes, and natural to the island of Madagascar.

They are currently listed as an endangered species, so I hope you're not thinking of owning one. Just continue to enyoy your documentaries.

That's neither a monkey or a chimp, but a lemur. They are primates, like apes and monkeys, but are in their own group called prosimians. There are lots of different species of lemur, but they all come from the island of Madagascar off the coast of Africa. :)
