Can I report an illegal traffic move?

I just recently received a speeding ticket. I'm a Junior Operator, and I'm going to lose my license for 90 days, pay a $150 ticket, $50 surcharge, and take a Driver Rehabilitation course, not to mention a $500 reinstatement fee to get my license back.

I'M PISSED.

So, I've been trying to adhere closely to the speed limit as of late. And just this morning, a man in a red civic got tired of my strict adherance. So, he passed me. In a non passing zone. And he exceeded the speed limit. Then, he sped up more, to get away.

I was again, angry, but in case this happens again, if I were to take a picture of his license plate, as he was passing me, could I report him to the cops?

I'm so tired of people getting away with everything. Oh, and I forgot to mention, he came this l l close to hitting a car on the other side of the road!!!! I was like, "Uhhh what are you d-- WOOOOAHHH CRAP DUDE!"

Update:

I just wanted thank you three for your awesome answers.

-Coppers will catch me, not anyone else

-Reporting someone doesn't always help, do it anyways because at least its an attempt

-watch ME, and make sure that I am driving acceptably

-pay my dues, (I'm fighting the ticket btw) and never speed again

-and don't let anyone's actions make me break the law

Thanks again. I'll let the public decide which of you deserve best answer!

    Vincent,

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes, but get used to the bad drivers. They are everywhere. You can take all the pics you want, but the cops won't do a thing unless they are so drunk they are literally all over the road and putting lives in danger. I drive a big truck and deal with the very scenario you gave on a daily basis. All you can do is follow the law and ignore the a$$-h***es. If you do the right thing, no one can tag you for it. Just be cool, pay your dues and get your license back, and follow the law from now on, even if you irritate other drivers. Let them lose their license when they get caught, don't let them force you into actions that will lose you your license again...What REALLY gets me is the cops...they break more laws than anyone...and who's to stop them? Good Luck Bro!

I know you're just blowing off steam, but I'm going to answer just like you really asked a question.

You can report this driver, but fat lot of good it will do you. It sucks when people violate the law and get away with it, but the truth is that the police are too under-staffed to go through the trouble of chasing the guy down just to go through a finger-pointing game. No offense, but with your tarnished record you wouldn't make a very credible witness at this point, and the police didn't see him commit a crime.

You'll have more luck next time if you report it immediately. Tell them the license number, how fast he was going, what road you're on and where the other driver is headed. And please do, whenever you can. It helps if they can catch the guy while he's driving.

Good luck with your traffic fine.

its amazing how when we are on the road..we see everything ... and where are the police??? well they are only there when WE do something wrong...

quit worring about what everyone else is doing wrong, focus on yourself being a defensive driver, and youll be o.k.

oh, by the way... the answer to your question is yes, you can report reckless driving....
