Grey and mum are the usual spellings in the UK, while Gray and Mom are American spellings.

Color, Gray, Mom - just how I was taught. In grade school we had "color" on the spelling test. Mom had a book not from here and they spelled it colour - so on the test that is the way I spelled it - and got it wrong. Not fair I say.
