How /when did your child begin to sleep through the night?

Currently my child is exclusively breastfed with one breastmilk bottle at night with Daddy. He is 7 weeks old. He currently wakes every 3-4 hours to eat. I'm OK with this, but would like to get an idea of what lies ahead.

I would like to hear actual things that you did, or did your child begin on his/her own? What worked for you? How old was your child?

Thanks!

My daughter just started sleeping on her own at 5 weeks. Only problem was she didn't want to sleep in her own bed. She didn't do that until 2 months.

He first slept through the night at about 10 weeks (went down at 11:30 and slept until 7)...once he did this for a few nights, I started our bedtime routine (prior to this he was up all night so a routine was pointless). He takes a bath (only every couple of nights now due to dry skin), lotion, pajamas, story, nurses, and then gets put down. I made sure once we started the bedtime routine, that he didn't leave his bedroom until morning...if he cried or had trouble sleeping, I sat with him up in his room. In the beginning I would watch for his cues as to when to start getting him ready for bed, he just gradually moved that time back and by 3.5 months he was usually in bed about 7:30 and slept until about 7.

our daughter was 4 weeks old when she started sleeping through. her last bottle would be at 10 and she would sleep till 6 in morning. we would wake her for her 10pm feed. I found once i switched over to bottle feeds, she got into a routine so fast. when she got a bit older she would sleep till 8am in morning. this has just changed and she is 2 years old. she now gets up at 6.30 but that doesnt faze me as i due with nuimber 2 in 3 days. just make sure you have a tight routine as baby knows when its time for sleep, play, feed, bath etc. all the best

Source(s): mum of 1 and and baby numver 2 due in 3 days

around 3 mo my dr gave me the ok to feed my son cereal and he began sleeping through the night then...until he started teething really bad! but for the most part they should began to sleep through the night around 4 mo. sometimes when you breast feed your child they get used to that sucking through out the night so if yo don't already you might want to try a binky!

This wouldn't be a problem if you hadn't brought a child into the world in the first place! (Have you ever heard of the population explosion? And why would you want to subject a child to the horrors of today's world?) Be responsible!
