What can I do to allow short video clips to play on my computer?

When I try to do this, the video starts and stops constantly. I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 9 and have Quick Time, Real Player and Windows Media. But nothing seems to make it work correctly. Things like You Tube work just fine, but clips on sites such as MSN's "In the Motherhood' or just news and entertainment clips just do the start and stop thing. I would appreciate any suggestions to help correct this.

Update:

I also have disabled pop-up blockers too which didn't help either.
