Any heavy girls give birth to a normal size baby?

I've lost 12 lbs. since I got pregnant... and I already have a high body mass index (short & stocky body)... I'm starting week 16 and worried that I won't gain enough weight to have a healthy baby!?

I was quite heavy before becoming pregnant, but from about 1 month into the pregnancy I had the worst morning sickness and sometimes didnt eat all day... I lost 10 kg, didn't gain anything at all during pregnancy and my daughter was born perfectly healthy. Your body is designed to give the nutrients that you have to the baby first and then you will get whats left.

It is normal to lose or gain weight slowly the first trimester. You will start to gain weight soon. If you are a little heavier to begin with you will be fine. Your baby will take what he needs. Just try to eat healthy foods. Lots of protein, fresh fruit and veggies. Limited junk foods and sodas. I'm sure you'll see a weight gain by 20 weeks. Take you vitamins. Babies are pretty hearty. Good luck and God Bless!
