one about an animal that was different then fell in water and washed off to become the same color as his friends.........sumting like dat

May I suggest starting the story with a line such as
"Angnus the ant was sad. Very sad..."
Or something similar to that. If you have an idea of where you want the story to go just getting started will be the hardest part. Feel free to use that line by the way.
Some common themes that resonate well with children could include; strength, intelligence and size. I think that is what you are trying to say, but I am not entirely certain...
