Would you agree that women are to ride side-saddle on horses?

I can't believe the amount of women I see in today's culture who ride a horse like a man is supposed to. Proper protocol says that women are to ride side-saddle because it is more feminine.

It's called riding aside, side saddle is the name of the saddle itself.

A lot of women today do ride aside for various reasons BUT they have to have the special side saddle AND a horse trained for being ridden aside.

This website has some great info as well:

    http://www.georgialadiesaside.com/drupal/?q=node/3...

"Sidesaddle riding has been on the rise since the 1970's. There are sidesaddle organizations in the United States on National, Regional and State levels...as well as organizations in other countries."

"Ladies ride aside for various reasons. Many are drawn to the sidesaddle as a way of trying something new and different with their horse. Some are attracted to it because of the elegance, style and grace it conjures, reminding one of the beautiful habits and hats women have worn through the ages. Physical handicaps, injuries and various religious beliefs are other reasons people choose to ride aside"

Riding aside also has it's own unique dangers and the reasons for riding like that are really no longer valid, women today do not wear those huge dresses AND we wear underwear! Did you know that women during the 14 to 17th century didn't wear underwear??? Number one reason to ride aside. ;)

I think riding horses either way is fun, but whatever. Technically, the proper way for women to ride is side-saddle. Or at least that is the way it used to be. But things have changed...

If a woman can ride sidesaddle, then she's better at horseback riding than most men. It's very difficult to keep your balance that way. I think men should wear skirts, because they're clearly not built to wear pants.

its definitely hard to do, and not feminine

women have the same rights as men, so why cant they ride like them?

    sexist.

No, I most certainly would NOT agree.

i certainly admire them if they are able to. there is nothing easy or feminine about it.
