There is no reason for an auto repair facility to have your title. And you should never leave it in the vehicle.
If you'd care to tell us why they had it in the first place, and how they lost it, perhaps better advice could be given. In the mean time, go get a duplicate title and keep it in a safe place from now on.

My husband has an auto repair shop and I don't recall him asking for any titles to any cars for any reason unless he bought the car from that person. Unless you owed money for repairs and gave him your title to hold on to until you paid him???

Why would a car repair place need your title to begin with? You don't keep your title in your car, do you?

the motor vehicle is genuinely abandoned on their lot and that they DO have the extraordinary to declare a call so they are able to have it bumped off. you say "they do no longer want to try this", yet whilst it fairly is heavily interior the way they're going to could. you may write to the State MVB and get a substitute call for a small value. (might get mailed to your previous handle nonetheless, be certain you left a 'forward' to your new one). As to transport an 'undrivable' from Ohio to Florida, are you specific it fairly is nicely worth it? If the floorboards are rusted out, it fairly is not going to bypass an inspection with out some considerable artwork.

you can get a replacement title issued from the DMV; have the repair shop pay the cost... then never go back to that shop.

Why did they have YOUR TITLE ?Do you maybe mean your REGISTRATION?-For the title, go to motor vehicle dept. IMMEDIATELY, and file for a lost one, taking the receipt to the shop for them to re-imburse you. for the reg., same thing, just less URGENCY involved.
