Can't concentrate when reading.?
Sometimes I will be in the middle of a paragraph only to realize that I am only looking at the words, but not really letting them sink in. I keep starting the paragraph over, but can never really focus on the story, but only the words. Is this a learning disability?

I loose focus when reading, it may be a disability, probably under the category of ADHD/ADD which I think every person alive has. How ever I use Bi-neural beats to deal with it.
Your brain has certain states and pending the state you can achieve high focus, increased memory, or greater creativity.
I use Beta, High Beta, then Theta, when I have some reading to get done. I got some tracks that you listen to while reading that help out.
Check it out.
I also found listening to classical music (mozart) or ambient electronic music (paul van dyke) helped as well.
If you want the free option, thats meditation, it puts your mind into a Theta state which is rejuvenating and helps with memory.
Pills are only a temp cure at best, its better to understand you have an issue and find something that can offer you a life time fix, with out the dollar value.

We can not determine whether you might have any disabilities or disorders in regards to learning.
Concentration problems are common and there are approaches that can be taken to better your situation such as providing yourself an appropriate enviornment, feeding your body with the right eating habits to provide the nutrition your body and brain need to function in an orderly fashion, preparing yourself by taking steps to clarity (some people take on relaxation methods such as meditations, breathing techniques to rid anxiety or baths).
If it's in class related, then it is not abnormal for your concentration level to be discouraged with the distractions around you and out of comfort zone, environment. A good way to reduce your problem, is by taking the initiative to ask your teachers about what will be happening in the next class and doing an overview in preperation to follow along better.

Well, it might be. You might want to consider seeing a reading specialist and getting reading help. You may also just need to read in a quiet room in a different atmopsphere. But do suggest to your teacher that you may to to see the reading specialist at your school!

i have the same problem sometimes. its not a learning disability. sometimes you are just tired or have other things on your mind. i suggest taking a nap or do what other things u want or need to do and then try and read again.

It could be that you just have alot on your mind, maybe there are too many distractions while you are trying to read? Try reading at a quiet time of day with no outside distractions.

This isnt abnormal. I used to think it was just me, until i realized it happens to everyone. Ive had conversations about it with other people before.
