2000 dodge dakota cooling system problems?
My dakota is currently pumping steam and sometimes actual fluid out of the radiator cap when it heats up. The vehical soon starts running warm after it spits out enough fluid. I recently put on a new radiator hose with the cap on it. I have returned this cap twice for this same problem. I have recently changed the thermostat. The Truck does not need to get all the way warm to start spitting fluid. It seems like maybe a blockage not allowing water flow so its coming out the cap???? any ideas or suggestions of what to do?
thanks

you could also have a blown head gasket in a water jacket and that will allow pressure from the engine to bleed over in to the cooling system and that will cause one to do like yours is doing, either way you may want to have a mechanic look at it for you,you cant drive it much and it doing that ,you could do more damage to the engine than can be repaired if it gets hot enough, good luck on it.

Radiator probably needs to be flushed out or the water pump is not working. Or see if you have a blown head gasket.

For sure get that checked out and maybe all it needs is a flushing of the cooling system hopefully.
Hope that helps and best of luck.....by the way some shops will check that for free.

I'd try the relay first bec more then likely that vehicle uses a few of the exact same relays in it and if that doesn't fix it try changing the sensor.More then likely the relay is sticking and causing the fan to stay engaged or the sensors wires are shorting out or the sensor itself is internally faulty.
