Is this genetic?

I dont know if this has a name or if its jus something that happens but I have two siblings from my mother. The first born died a few days after birth because she was born to late. I guess doctors back then didnt understand the risks of going over term very much. Anyway she waited with me and my sister and never has gone into labor and had to have a c-section. My dad is worried that this will happen to me and that the doctor wont take it serious (though I know she will she said they wont let me go more than a week and a half after my due date) but I was just curious what everyone else thought or if they experienced it to.

Update:

I am already at my one week appointments and they said that if I was to go into labor right now that they would not stop it. I am so close. I am not worried about it because I know the doctors will take her out if my body does not go into labor. My mom just can not go into labor for some reason. I hope I can though I would rather have it on my own than having to be helped. Thanks though.

Im pretty sure that kind of thing isnt hereditary! that seems like a personal issue within your moms own boby! By what you can tell or what you've been told, is this an ongoing situation between a lot of family members or just your mom! you should have nothing to worry about! Good Luck

It is very common for a first time mom to deliver after her due date. Most doctors don't consider it a problem unless you go more than two weeks overdue. To prevent that from happening, doctors always schedule hospital inductions as you approach 42 weeks. I went 10 days overdue and have a happy healthy baby boy. Don't worry too much just keep going to your appointments where the doctor can monitor you and your baby. Towards the end you will be going in at least once per week.
