Get rid of all bottles and don't for any reason buy another.

She will get over it. It may take a while but she will. At this age a bottle is very bad for the teeth.

It's going to be harder now than when she was one. I started my son on sippy cups when he was about 8 months old, just during the day, he still took a bottle til he was a year. Then I would get it to where he only had one at night and in the morning and then cup the rest of the day. Then be the time he was one I just packed all the bottles away and gave him sippy cup. And he hasnt touched a bottle since. Your sister should have been off the bottle 4 or 5 years ago. All i can say is take the bottle from her and let her scream it out.

Okay since some of these answers read mean I'll give this a go. There are several different cups that function like a bottle with a straw that goes down to the bottom, or sometimes plastic connected to the bottom and are part of the physical cup. Because you have been doing this for such a long time, it may be necessary to have a "weaning" period, much like going from breastfeeding to the bottle, instead of going flat out cold turkey. It still gives her that sucking motion that she desires. Also most of these are answering you from the viewpoint that you are the mother, not the sister as you clearly state. What might help though, is introducing the toothbrush into the bedtime routine. Because she will drink other times of the day from a cup, tell her that this is her *last* flavored drink before bed, and then we brush our teeth. Do it with her, so that she sees that dental hygiene is important for everyone, not just her. Even go beyond - floss. You don't have to get her to floss but do it yourself occasionally in front of her to illustrate the importance of healthy teeth. If you have bad teeth already, then show her what happens when you don't brush, but that what you do now will keep it from getting worse. This way you hit 2 birds with one stone. Remember that as soon as you call it her last (flavored) drink, you can't take that back. Give her the option for water afterward if she is still thirsty.

If she is truly thirsty and not just looking for bedtime drink out of habit, she will drink from a cup, since she does for the rest of the day.

She needs to be drinking from a cup. Take the bottle from her and throw it in the trash. She should have been on the sippy cup @ 2 years old.

Its your fault for buying the bottle..do you know what that will do to her teeth?? You should have taken her off the bottle at 12 months old...So what if she gets annoying with it..Be a parent!!! You could have given her a sippy cup at that time..and oh well if you lost some sleep..you are such a lazy parent!!! And we see who runs the house..its the 6 year old not the parents...**oops my bad..its your parents fault..not yours..***

you take it from her and put up with her being annoying for a few days, it will pass. shes SIX for crying out loud, you should have shut this down a long time ago.shes old enough for a regular cup, let alone a sippy.

go from the actual botle, to a sippy cup with a nipple-looking cover, then to a regular sippy cup.
