claming disability compensation from the ARMY?

I am a 23 year old army vetern who is working on getting compensation for things that occured while serving in the military.

How do I know if the % of disability they decide is right for my injuries?

what do I do differently if I decide to appeal there desision?

What is a good percent to get?

any one with knowledge on this matter please help!

Update:

I have filed with the va so far they have me at 20% and they still have one more medical condition to decide on so its looking like 30 % no matter what but I think I deserve more. like 60% "lol" but may be I am dreaming

whats the most you think I should get for PTSD ?

There is no telling what you can get for a specific disease/condition. The VA does their own math and figures it out for you. I know that across the board asthmatics are given 30%. PTSD patients are given anywhere between 10-50% very rare if you get above that. It also depends on how long you have had the problem and how persistent that problem is and if you are relient on medicine. You can also get extra compensation for lost/loss of use of a limb or body organ...it won't be a percentage but it will be extra money, about $100.

I'm sure you've gone through the VA pre-screen doctors already, if you need to go again make sure you emphasize how much pain you are in.

The rating that will get you your 10 points for government jobs and eligibility for vocational rehab is 30%.

You can think you deserve a lot more but in reality the VA is the last say. Heck if I can't get full disability or more than 0% for the military accidently removing a vital organ I doubt they'll give you more for PTSD.

When you rebutt your case you have 60 days from the day you were informed. I would suggest speaking to or having the the local DAV help you out. Most are experts on our cases.

I rebutted one of my disabilities about 3 months ago and still have not heard back from them. I'm getting ready to rebutt my second one.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

30% is a good amount, it does help with federal jobs. I think if you want to appeal you have to have additional proof.

I have found the VA website very helpful.

I have 30% and think it is fair.

You should be filing with the VA. See their website.

it's a crap shoot as to what you'll get but 30% gets you moved to the head of the line for federal employment...good luck
