Help with 2002 Lincoln head gaskets 3.0 liter.?

I need to know a few things. #1. Is this motor a interference motor? #2. What is the book time for doing head gaskets? #3. What is book time for an engine change? The reason I ask is, the motor failed a cylinder leak test. Coolant bubbled in the radiator under air pressue with a cylinder leak tester hook up to the left bank. It also had bubles immediately under start up without the cylinder leak tester installed. Head gasket are out or, cracked head, or block. Is it feaseable to tear it down, or just put a motor in it. If your NOT A PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIAN, don't even answer. I have yet to see a problem like this with this motor.

I know the Ford 3.0 SOHC engine is an interference motor, but Lincoln has thier own variations. Did you use an emissions probe to sniff the coolant for hydrocarbons while the car was running to confirm a head gasket failure? I know you have bubbles upon start up but that could be other things as well. You really wont know anything until you actually tear at least one of the heads off to take a look at the actual gasket. Those motors were pretty decent motors so more than likely there would be no need to pull the motor. Good luck.

Ask why the head gasket need to be replaced. Most case, head gasket need to be replaced by broke that cause by overheated and twist the cylinder head. A broke head gasket will mixing the engine oil and the radiator coolant. When you do the test drive, please check the coolant level before and after the test, also pleasecheck the color of engine oil, is it going to milky? The head gasket is not expensive, but you have to be sure that no need of resurfacing the cylinder head, it will higher the compression and make more heat.

The book time is 8 hours and yes it is an interference engine. But so long as the timing chain doesn't break, you are fine.
