Current Events has sunk to new lows - don't you think?

I totally agree, this place is at an all-time low. Some of the answers I have seen are nothing short of shocking, and the cruelty directed towards a child who has suffered unimaginably in the last few weeks is disgraceful. I can't believe someone wrote "people actually wanted Madeleine to be found". That sort of person really is the lowest of the low, as is the idiot who thumbed them up.

People may have valid concerns about this case (and others) but there is no excuse for the sheer nastiness pouring out here and elsewhere on the Internet. We do not know what happened yet, and we are just going to have to wait to find out.

In the meantime, personal attacks, most based on sheer ignorance are symptomatic of the dark side of the posters and have no bearing on the realities of the case.

In relation to the nasty comments aimed at a terrified and victimised child - the posters should be reported and banned. They are people with pure vileness in their hearts... the kind of people who create an atmosphere in our society where evil can happen to little kids. Shame on all of them.

Well said. People are entitled to their opinions, but some of the comments about the family have been way below the belt, especially the ones aimed at Shannon herself.

I think so and no you're not being one bit precious, you know why they're doing it ? because it's the easiest thing in the world to put the boot in when people aren't here to defend themselves...Current Events is riddled with bullies, cowards and hangers on, one in particular who can dish it out though not so good at taking it .

You have to accept that on boards like this, people will say what they want - that is the whole point of them - different views etc. It's all great stuff but obviously, you are going to get negative comments. You need to find "only nice people allowed board" - you will be searching for a while I think.

By the way, you can't escape the fact that the McCanns neglected their children - any fool can see that.

I sympathize with what you say but I don't think these are new lows. I generally ignore the posts you refer to, it's not worth getting involved, certain users aren't interested in facts or any views that don't represent their own limited prejudices, let them entertain themselves as they only look exactly like those they criticise, and are too blinkered to know it.

However, I do agree it is a bit low to make insults against a woman you know nothing about, and are guessing what she 'might' be like.

Some people find insults like that amusing. I suppose in the right situation, a comedian on a stage, telling a tale, it would be funny, but it is wrong to cast aspersions.

I have missed some of these most likely and seems I am lucky not to have seen them if they are so bad. I wish people would think before they wrote sometimes, they seem to need someone to attack who cannot attack back on here always.
