What are some good ways to become more informed about what is going on in the world?

I'm new in college and I'm really starting to care a lot more about politics and world news but I’m so behind in what going on I don’t even know where to start! I want opinions from both sides and I don’t trust the media as a good source. How can I do this?

Update:

O.k but where can i find facts? The inter net is a big place and i don't even know what events to start with!

other than media sources try gathering the opinions of friends and family, the Internet is also another good source of information and public opinion, your local student news paper is another avenue you can use for info. hope these news sources help you read between the lines. good luck.

Talk radio, AM has a lot of good programs, just bear in mind radio, tv, newspapers all media is biased, so just look for facts . Of course you may find you identify with a particular slant . I haver gone in a few directions over the years, but the world and peole simply are not black and white and so neither can be politics.

you can start by taking no notice whatsoever of what governments and politicians are telling you! they are all liars and traitors. and most of the media is government approved.so they tell us a pack of lies as well! my advice would be to read lots of books and think for yourself and always look outside the box.
