Dog Toys for Power Chewers?
I recently adopted a wonderful black Labrador mutt, named Ben. He has turned out to be an intense chewer. Toys we had for our beagle and other lab mutt have been reduced to bits and pieces. Our poor beagle, who enjoyed soft plushie toys, is now toyless because her toys were turned into fluff quite quickly.
I know Kong toys are great for chewers. I got him a red Kong goodie bone, and he destroyed it in less than a half an hour. Lesson learned, I bought him a black 'extreme' Kong, and thus far it has held out MUCH better. What are other tough toys that can stand up to him? If I am spending 10-20$ per toy, I'd like it if they lasted a little bit longer than the other, less durable toys.

Teaser Ball, Buster Cube, try Material Dog toys (they are cloth, but aren't stuffed and seem to last better.) Also, Petsmart has a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied. I would ask them for recommendations and then return things if Ben destroys them in no time flat.

Hooves and bully sticks!
I have a Husky mix who is also a "power chewer."
There's no reason to spend $10-20 on chew toys. Hooves are 99 cents each & bully sticks vary in price, but they're no more than $3.00 each.
Based on my experience, these are by far the best & cheapest chew toys for dogs who destroy most toys.

ill tell you that for really bad chewers, almost all toys for dogs will not last longer than a week. i have tried everything with my dog, and he destroys everything. the best advice i can give you is to use tennis balls. they are cheap, so if they do get destroyed at least you arent out more than 2 bucks. the other thing i would suggest is going to the hardware store and buying come of the thickest hardiest rope you can find. tie the ends in a knot and there you go, a dog toy! if your dog isnt very interested in it, spray it with something yummy.

Please be *very* careful when providing bones to your dog. Soft bones are not a problem, however 'knuckle bones' and the like can damage teeth. Our pit had dental surgery recently most likely due to a bone we gave him. Bones that are soft, will become brittle within a day. Beware!
I've found that the large Jumbo 12" bully bones are fabulous. I get them on ebay for about $3 and change each - they don't last very long, but are safe, don't hurt teeth, and really satisfy the chewing need.

My dog is an intense chewer, he even chewed to extreme Kong up in a month. One toy that i found (it lasted for a year!) was a rope ball. You can find them at most pet stores and the hold up really well. This is because dogs cant really sink their teeth into them that well but they love to work at it because its a "challenge" heres a link to what one looks like!

What a great question ! I have 2 dogs( Dachshunds ) that can destroy a toy in an hour ! I like that idea of the rope ball. They love rope toys, but tear them apart too. Thanks !

I agree with the rope suggestion, although it can be expensive, it's a worthwhile investment.
I think, if you take your dog to the park every day, he will find a good stick to gnaw on, it's solid and it's free!

Raw Bones.
Cow Femurs are strong, last a while, provide calcium for your dog, and clean their teeth.
They also aren't very expensive.
