Hot dang, she's 47 and getting a tattoo. You're a grown woman, do what you want. Also, I know from what my mom has said, when you get to a certain age you really quit caring what other people think about you and I think people at that age really quit caring about what's not their business.
It's Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Opinions.
My suggestion is to go to tattoo parlors and check out the artists portfolios. If you see some work you like consult them and see what else they can do. I would reflect on things in your life that have had a lot of meaning and importance to you.

My advice is to take the time to come up w/something yourself. A tat is much better if it means/stands for something. It should be personal/tell a story about you.

My mom just got a tattoo and she's 46. No shame in that! It's better to get one now when you've truly decided on something and are in love with it. No regrets. Just make sure to go to somewhere reputable. Trust me, no one in the tattoo parlor will look at you like you're crazy; they've seen plenty crazier than a 47-year-old! Enjoy and good luck! :)

Go ahead and get them done. I have seen over forty women having tattoos on their chest and breasts, partly exposed, most classy and sexy. You could try them out.

I think a nice curvy ivy that reaches out to your shoulder blades would be hot.

are you sure you want a tattoo at almost 50 years old? you know, in a few years, you might regret it. heck, you might regret it one hour after you get it. and if you have to ask strangers what kind of tattoo you should get, you probably really shouldnt get one b/c it sounds like this is a mid life crisis inspired spur of the moment type thing. you dont even know what you want to get. at least get a tattoo with meaning if you are going to get one, and not one that a random person suggests.
