Why is California trying to thwart parents from Homeschooling unless they are accredited?

Bottom line it is going to catch on in other states. Government schools are just that. Controlled by the government and washing children in government propaganda and behavior modification teqniques.

Some parents have known this for a long time which is why they homeschool. The reason why they are chrging so much for accreditation now is because they know most families cant afford it. The value of the dollar is plummeting and i know this is going to only spread.

The government wants control of the hearts and minds of children.

Accredited doesn't mean a thing. If it really did stand for something then why is it that accredited teachers are allowed to walk out of public schools on strike and deprive public school children of an education?

I home school and there is no way I would walk out on our children to whine about benefits and more pay. I actually care about the education of our children. Many public school teachers are nothing more than glorified babysitters. They want the paycheck not to really care about their students. The ones who truly suffer are their students.

Home schooling stats do not make the public school system look good. The unions could fear that home schools may take off and eliminate jobs. There is most certainly some sor tof money issue involved. And there are some home school cases that abuse the home shcool title (but there are teachers and school officials abusing students as well). It probably is a politically motivated (which points back to $ corruption, job issues, etc)

Because California politicians have lost their minds.

Because the No Child Left Behind Act is not what it's cracked up to be. Because you can't do anything without having the government poke its collective nose into it.

I suppose they're trying to say that they want to make sure kids are actually being schooled in some way, instead of running around in the backyard all day. It would be a sad day if they tried to do that in my state because there is no way I would ever send my children to the backwater hillbilly school where I live!

Spliff, in his answer, has confirmed his expertise on the challenge of idiocy. sure, I agree. that is clean from the numerous academically excelling homeschoolers and likewise from the shockingly severe percentage of sub-literate public college graduates that a education certificate is neither a assure of nor needed for a severe high quality education.

Money.

Public education is a unionized monopoly. Where else can you get top pay, benefits, and tenure, even if you perform substandard work?

My take? Competition. IMHO, if unaccredited teachers can do it cheaper and better, that poses a huge threat to the 'system.'

it is about the money and we as parents had better stand up for our rights. the private schools don't receive or accept ant government funds so they can do what they choose.

The public schools get about $4,600.00 per student from the Gov. It gives them the chance to get more MONEY. It's not because they care about the Kids.
