whats the different between 'vintage', "retro", and 'antique"?

They can all be applied differently. But, vintage usually refers to something that is old in age but that is still valued by 'modern' standards. Antique carries a similar meaning but usually implies something that is more fragile, precious or irreplaceable. Retro usually refers to the design or modeling of something that is based on something in the past. For example the current ford mustang design is 'retro', because its based on the design concepts of the old mustang. 'Vintage' t-shirts are valued today, even though they are old. And a person may refer to a piece of furniture as 'antique' if its been handed down for generations, because its more fragile and can't really be replaced.
I'm sure a dictionary could be of more use, but thats my understanding of it. Hope that helps.
