ESPN "expert" NCAA final four picks...?

Do Jay Bilas and Andy Katz realize that since the inception of a 64 team NCAA tournament that all four number 1 seeds have never made it to the final four? Does Dick Vitale, Digger Phelps and Hubert Davis understand that the last time three number 1 seeds and a number 2 seed went to the final four was in 1993. The odds of a number 2 beating a number 15 seed in my opinion are better than that. In my opinion only Coach Knight's elite 8 and final four picks are truly believable when he predicted Pittsburgh to win it all.

Why does our so called experts enlighten us with their vast experience when they take the easy way out and choose all four number one seeds in this tournament? This also happened last year as well.

What do you think?

So you saw that crap show on ESPN as well eh? Bob Knight made some good points otherwise it was a waste of decent airspace. Lets find some other commentators who have some sense. Hell I was watching 1st & 10 with that hack Skip Bayless and found more intelligent points from Jalen Rose and that's saying something.

I'm hoping UCLA handles business but they have a fight on their plate from Texas and Memphis.

Well the picks of the experts are pretty much right this year. The NCAA tournament employs a single elimination format so any top team may lose if the lower ranked team plays unbelievable or they have an off day. Its pretty impossible to predict all 4 teams which will go to the Final Four. The tournament is very unpredictable. With that said the experts just give the teams with the highest chance of advancing. By the way, Pittsburgh ain't going all the way. Favor North Carolina, UCLA, Georgetown and Stanford in the Final 4 but wouldn't be surprised if only 1 or 2 of these teams actually goes this far.

    Thanks for question..

i think that they based their picks on what they have seen this year in college basketball. anyone with a grain of salt knows that not all four #1's will reach the final four. it just doesn't happen, and when it does, its a fluke. i normally look over the past five years before i make my picks. doing that kind of research has lead me to believe that in the first round, at least one #4 and a #5 will be beaten. most 10 seeds also win. most #1 seeds get beat in the sweet sixteen or elite eight. sometimes a 4, 5, or a 6 seed makes it to the final four.

on top of all that, you need to factor in the opponents that the teams have played, whose injured, who is playing where, longest streak- win or lose- for teams, coaching, and conferences. its easy to say that north carolina has an easy bracket, they should make the final four, kansas is on a hot streak but they are in a tough bracket (don't see them reaching the four), memphis hasn't played anyone except tennessee this year (they won't get past pitt or texas), and ucla has xavier and possibly duke to worry about.

based on where these teams have landed, its easy to assume that all four #1's could reach the final four. but i'll stick with a coach that has over 900 wins over any player, past coach, or a guru anyday. i think that coach knight will before its all said and done, will have the best bracket out of the "experts".

I totally agree with you. The experts just take wild guesses and see if there right and most of the time their not.

    My picks are:

    Unc

    Kansas

    Texas

    Duke
