I deleted all the files I could see on my 1 GB flash drive, but the available storage capacity is only 3 MB?

    You may have a U3 drive (see link 1 below). Which would mean that your computer thinks the majority of the drive is a 'CD-ROM' and you only have a small partition to use as a flash drive. If that's the case, and you don't want to keep the U3 software thats on the drive there are programs to remove them but they are irreversible (see link 2). If your drive isn't a U3, then I'd need more detail to help.

    Empty the recycle bin. If it still shows up as 3mb, right click on it and then choose format

    What is the question? It is a fact that you have not deleted everything. I don't even know how the stick is configured or how it is typically used.
